As of the date of this post, Cherry Mobile announced that they will sell their acclaimed smart phone, the Flare 2X at P500 less than its' original price of P4,499 for only 3days on Nov 15 to 17, 2013.
The said phone is a followup to Cherry Mobiles' widely successfull release of "Flare" back at Nov of 2012.
This year, Cherry mobile continued their trend of releasing value and feature packed smart phones with an amazingly affordable price range which is a gold mine for budget cautious people.
Good things aside, I can't help it but to speculate on the reason behind this sale since the Flare 2X is selling quite well even at it's undiscounted price.
To say a few, there have been reports that some Flare 2X suffers from heating problem where the phone would heat up (comparable to when a phone heats up from extended use) while performing a task as minimal and not as CPU demanding as web browsing on a single tab while no other app is running on the background. In a business point of view, some user/buyer may accept that issue lightly due to the lower price they have paid for the device. Another one of my speculation is that this promo may be a good way to get rid of the white versions. Now, I know some consumer likes the white version but there are also those that would do anything from ducking, rolling, or making silly excuses just to avoid the purchase of a white phone (in favor for the black). Another view is that the Flare 2X' sales might suffer once its' (for now) anticipated viral (the Flare S) comes out. And finally, there maybe nothing wrong with the sale at all. It might be that Cherry Mobile is just giving back for all the love they are getting with their brand new line of value oriented yet feature packed smart phones.
What ever happens, I personally hope that Cherry Mobile continues to release this kind of smart phones on the local shores.
